Erin Harmon, Prevention Services Supervisor
Erin Harmon is the Prevention Services Supervisor overseeing the High School Truancy and Specialized Case Management programs at the O’Connell Children’s Shelter. Erin joined The Shelter Inc. staff in 2014 as the High School Truancy program case manager. She became the Prevention Programs Supervisor in 2018. Erin is born and raised in Lawrence, graduating as a Lawrence High School Chesty Lion. She attended the University of Kansas where she graduated with a degree in Psychology, Sociology and Women’s Studies. Her work history includes an understanding of state welfare programming as well as mental health for all ages. She also has previously owned a licensed in-home daycare. She has worked to support children and families overcome barriers and successfully strengthen and achieve their goals for the last 20 years.
Outside of work, Erin has spent many years giving back to others in her charity work. She is a former member of both the Cosmopolitan Diabetes Service organization and the Lawrence St. Patricks Day Parade Committee. Her current fundraising focus is as a co-chair with the annual Summer’s End Cruise In and BBQ Competition raising money for the O’Connell Children’s Shelter prevention programs and Lawrence Police Blue Santa program. Erin is also a resident foodie and has a passion for all things cooking and baking. She graduated culinary school in 2011 and worked for a food truck part time for several years on the weekends. Family is the most important thing to Erin. She spends as much of her free time as possible with them from cheering on Kansas Jayhawks basketball with her “framily” to making memories with her step-kids. In 2022, Erin was given her greatest blessing in becoming a first time mommy to an amazing little boy.
